Snaptrip Group acquires The Hotel Guru

UK: Snaptrip Group, a portfolio of lodging platforms [including LateRooms, Snaptrip, and Dog Friendly Cottages], has revealed its purchase of the global hotel website The Hotel Guru for an undisclosed amount in the seven-figure range.
This calculated acquisition bolsters Snaptrip Group’s standing in the hospitality industry and greatly widens its international presence.

Snaptrip Group CEO Matt Fox stated: “We’re excited to bring The Hotel Guru into the Snaptrip Group portfolio. This purchase marks a major milestone in our goal to be the leading platform for all accommodation types in the UK and beyond.
The Hotel Guru’s strong reputation as a reliable source for curated hotel critiques, backed by its team of skilled reviewers, perfectly aligns with our current services,” he continued.

As a global platform for curated hotel reviews, The Hotel Guru has emerged as a key resource for travelers looking for hotels focused on exceptional guest experiences in recent times.

The platform boasts a significant international following, especially in the United States, offering Snaptrip Group a chance to tap into new markets and attract a broader audience.

Hugh Graham-Watson, who will continue as MD of The Hotel Guru, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Snaptrip Group and support their ongoing growth. This collaboration enables us to utilize Snaptrip Group’s robust UK presence while providing our global customers access to a broader selection of outstanding lodging options.”

Supported by Bestport Private Equity and Forward Partners, Snaptrip Group started acquiring companies in 2017 with the acquisition of Last Minute Cottages Ltd.

Since then, it has incorporated LateRooms, Hot Tub Hideaways, and Independent Cottages into its portfolio, all driving consistent revenue growth and profitability year after year.

The inclusion of The Hotel Guru strengthens Snaptrip Group’s presence in the hotel industry, building on its acquisition of LateRooms’ assets after the company entered administration in 2019.

Snaptrip Group relaunched LateRooms earlier this year.

Fox added: “The hospitality sector is a dynamic and challenging space right now, particularly after Covid, and amid economic and political uncertainties.

Expanding our reach across hotel and self-catering accommodations in urban and rural settings in the UK, and now internationally with The Hotel Guru’s acquisition, is a deliberate strategy to maximize diverse channels and growth prospects.
Our group will keep seeking acquisitions that accelerate entry into new markets and sectors, expanding both our customer base and accommodation partnerships for their shared benefit.”
